Refashioning: da maglione a cardigan / Sweater to cardi refashioning

Ecco un progetto che ho studiato per moltissimo tempo, consultandomi anche con la Piperita Patty, e che finalmente sono riuscita a realizzare circa tre settimane fa! Mi dispiace che il tutorial non sia molto esauriente ma ero presissima dai lavori.. in ogni caso il procedimento è molto semplice!

Innanzitutto vi serve un maglioncino un pò anonimo, possibilmente di lana fine:

Here is a project I've been getting ready for in the past few months, thanks to Piperita Patty's advice, too. I eventually managed to go through it some weeks ago and I was anxious to share it with you. Sorry the tutorial is not very detailed, but I was particularly excited by the project and I forgot to take a few pictures. The whole process is clear anyway so I'm pretty sure you will have no troubles whatsoever in repeating it.

First of all, you need an old, shabby sweater. Choose one made by thin wool if possible:

Per prima cosa, piegando il maglione a metà nel senso della lunghezza, scoprite per l'appunto la metà. Io anziché segnarla con il gesso da sarto mi trovo più comoda con lo scotch di carta!
Tagliate a metà di questa linea, in maniera che si formino i due lati del cardigan.

First of all, fold the sweater in two along the vertical line and mark it. This line will give you the precise half of the sweater: I use paper sello-tape to mark it.
You will cut along this line, so as to have the two halves of the cardi.

A questo punto è necessario cucire cucire i due lembi del cardigan perché la lana non si sfili. NB: io ho utilizzato l'orlo svelto, ossia quella sorta di nastro adesivo che, se stirato, incolla le due parti: sembra orribile ma in realtà su questo progetto secondo me è molto funzionale perché blocca la lana in maniera più sicura dei punti.

Inoltre, per abbellire un pò il cardigan magari volete aggiungere qualcosa.. nel mio caso, ovviamente.. ROUCHES!
Se volete farlo anche voi, scegliete il nastro che vi piace e compratene una volta e mezza la lunghezza di ciascun lato del cardigan (ad es.: ogni lato del cardigan è alto 40 cm, voi comprate due nastri da 60 cm ciascuno).
Appuntate le rouches con degli spilli distribuendone bene la lunghezza e cucitele al maglione: io le ho cucite a mano e sono venute bene. 
Ed ecco qui!


Now you'll need to hem  the two halves of the cardigan, to prevent stitches from unravelling. I used iron-on adhesive tape: it might sound disgusting, but I think it's the best solution to keep the wool fixed.
Besides, you might want to emebellish the cardi, which in my case meant.. GATHERINGS!
If you want to do the same, you'll need two , each one measuring 1,5x the lenght of each side of the cardigan.
Pin the gatherings to the wool and sew them and.. there you are!

Lezioni dal crafting: non tutto è come sembra / Lessons from crafting: what you see is not always what you get

Ricordate la maglietta di S.Valentino che ho postato qualche tempo fa? Sembrava un progetto facile, tipo: prendi una maglietta, stampa lo schema del punto croce e vai sopra di crocette.
Mai impressione fu più fallace: questa maglietta è stata un incubo!!!

Do you remember the Valentine's day t-shirt I posted a while ago? It looked like an easy project: you get a t-shirt, pin your cross-stitch pattern on it, cross-stitch it. 
Well, that wasn't easy. It's been a nightmare!

Alcune riflessioni per chi volesse avventurarsi in questo progetto:

- la mia t-shirt era in maglina elasticizzata: scomoda perché i punti devono essere fatti con la giusta tensione per non risultare né troppo lenti né arricciare il tessuto; comoda perché ho potuto cucire con un filo e un ago grossi, senza che la maglietta si bucasse in malo modo

- Filo di lana grosso è la scelta vincente: un filo più sottile tenderà sempre a restare morbido

- la modalità suggerita dal tutorial prevedeva di stampare o riportare su carta lo schema, appuntarlo alla maglietta e ricamare sopra: orribile, orribile procedimento! La carta fa sì che i punti non aderiscano bene al tessuto, rendendo tutto il lavoro impreciso e troppo morbido. Almeno, a me è successo così. Allora, ho bucato lo schema sul foglio nei punti in cui l'ago avrebbe dovuto entrare uscire, e ho quindi segnato i punti delle varie crocette con un pastello a cera direttamente sul tessuto, e ho cucito così (mitico suggerimento del Pì!!!)

Some suggestions for those who will try the project:

- I had an elastyc t-shirt, which is a bit tricky to sew on because the tension can either be too loose or too tight, but is a good option for using a thick thread and needle without causing troubles to the fabric.

- You'd better go for a wool thread: cotton just makes the stitches too loose.

- The original tutorial suggests you print the pattern, pin it to the t-shirt and cross-stitch on it. Big mistake: I had lots of troubles because the paper prevents the stitches from having appropriate tension, risulting too loose and messy. 

The Mighty Pi therefore suggested we punched the pattern where the needle was supposed to go in and out, and then report the same little holes on the fabric with a crayon. 

Alla fine dei conti, ecco qui il risultato. Sono contenta ma.. che fatica! Me la godrò proprio questa maglietta! Buon San Valentino a tutti!

In the end, here is the outcome. I'm pretty satisfied, but oh my has it been exhausting! I will really enjoy wearing this t-shirt! Happy Valentine's day everyone!

Refashioning maglietta per San Valentino - Valentine's day t-shirt refashioning

Più che giustamente non tutti hanno già voglia di sentir parlare di San Valentino, ma io ho la mania dell'organizzazione delle feste e degli eventi per cui non posso fare a meno di essere già curiosa!

Ovviamente non è per forza San Valentino-related, anzi tutto sommato è portabilissima tutto l'anno e credo possa essere un regalo molto carino in qualunque momento dell'anno o una strategia per abbellire un pò una banale t-shirt che magari già c'è nell'armadio! Mi piace particolarmente portata con la camicia sotto, e di questo bel grigio scuro (rosso/grigio è un abbinamento che mi piace tantissimo d'inverno).

La carinissima Madeline di Uber chic for cheap condivide il tutorial per realizzarla, e anche tre diversi pattern per cucire il cuore a gigapuntocroce! 

Così, complici i saldi, mi sono messa a cercare la maglietta e, con l'aiuto dell'occhio di lince del Pì, ho trovato questa:

Of course you don't really need to wear this on Valentine's day, it's actually wearable all year long and I also think it can either be such a nice present or a way to refashion an old tee!

I particularly love it in this dark grey, as a second layer to a shirt!

So, thanks to winter sales, I went hunting for mine and The Mighty Pi helped me spot this for 5 euro!

La trovo perfetta, lo scollo va benissimo per metterci sotto una camicia e le maniche sono un pò a pipistrello.. ora non vedo l'ora di darmi ai lavori! Chi mi segue?!

Refashioning vestitino nero / Little black dress refashioning

Ieri ho notato in una vetrina questo genere di orecchini: è da un pò che questa moda pacchianissima delle gemme finte ipercolorate mi prende..

I noticed this kind of earrings yesterday: I've been having a thing for this over-coloured fake gems for a while now..

Poi, la mia amica N. mi ha regalato questo bellissimo vestitino che lei non metteva più: è proprio il mio genere e il mio modello, ma ne ho già uno molto simile! Quindi.. idea!

Then I got this nice little black dress from my friend N.: I love the line, but I have another similar one. So.. brilliant idea!

Mi ricordavo di aver visto qualcosa del genere qui sotto (questa foto viene dal mitico blog P.S.:I made this, ma ne ho viste in giro parecchie altre), quindi ora mi basterà svaligiare una merceria a caccia di maxipallettes supercolorate, che metterei tutto intorno alla linea del collo del vestitino. Che ne dite? Qualcuno ha già provato?

I remembered I had seen and kept in the to do file something similar to the picture below. This one comes from the stunning blog P.S. I made this, but I'm sure I have seen more similar projects all around the internet. So now I only need to put my hands on a bunch of those colourful maxipaillettes and sew them all around my dress's neckline. What do you think? Has anyone already tried something similar?

Refashioning di una t-shirt con la candeggina / Bleached T-shirt refashioning

Una delle mie bacheche di Pinterest è dedicata ai progetti di refashioning. Recentemente ho trovato un progetto che mi ha fatto venire in mente le interessanti peripezie di Piperita Patty circa la decorazione di magliette con il candeggio.
La tecnica è davvero curiosa e il risultato mi è sembrato tanto carino!

One of my Pinterest boards is dedicated to refashioning projects. I recently pinned a project that made me think of Piperita Patty's smart attempts at refashioning a t-shirt with bleach.
The technique is rather peculiar and I really loved the effect!

Come vedete il motivo candeggiato è abbastanza piccolo, anche perchè come notava Piperita Patty, la candeggina rovina i tessuti. Un'altra cosa che secondo me crea un bell'effetto è la tonalità di base delle magliette che non è troppo accesa e quindi crea un giusto tono su tono. L'immagine è tratta da un post molto dettagliato del bel blog Show Tell Share, in cui si parla anche di questo instrumentum diaboli di cui cercherò inutilmente di impossessarmi:

As you can see, the bleached area is quite narrow, so as to prevent the bleach to damage fabric. Another detail I love is the background colour of the t-shirts: it's not too vibrant and it blends well with the bleached effect. Ah-ha! Una 'penna a candeggina' che servirebbe in teoria per smacchiare piccole aree, ma che noi non vorremo farci mancare per creare qualcosa di originale! Credo che in Italia non sia diffusa, ma nulla vieta di utilizzare un pennellino per acquarelli con il serbatoio e aggiungere una soluzione di acqua e candeggina.

Ah-ha! A bleach pen is in theory used on small stains, but we craft people will of course see another possible (mis)use of the tool!

Che ne pensate? Qualcuno ha provato una tecnica simile? Io prima o poi lo farò!

Da maglietta a gonna / T-shirt to skirt

Povero, povero blog e poveri i miei lettori.. scusatemi, dovrebbero revocarmi il Premio Shaqwi! Per me questo periodo dell'anno è sempre molto incasinato, ma con quei casini imprevedibili che non permettono di riuscire a pianificare proprio niente!
Oggi però mi sono imposta di dedicarmi un pò al blog (tra l'altro ho trascurato anche i vostri: scusate!) e riprendo mostrandovi un refashioning di questa estate che non mi ha convinto ma che secondo me ha dei lati positivi. Ecco quello che vi serve, o circa:

Poor miserable blog - and reader! I'm so sorry, they should take the Shaqwi prize away from me! This is a very messy period for me, when more than busy you are confused and you really can't plan anything.
Today I forced myself to find some time for my blog - btw, I also skipped visiting yours.. I am so sorry!), so here we start again with a refashioning project I did this summer. I don't like it completely, but it still has some good points.
Here is what you'll need more or less:

La maglietta XL diventerà la gonna per il top - ecco perchè è opportuno averli o della stessa tinta o coordinati. State attente a tagliare la parte inferiore della t-shirt a una lunghezza che vada bene per farci una gonna, contando che perderete un paio di cm sul bordo superiore per inserire l'elastico in vita:

XL t-shirt will be turned into the skirt for the tanktop - this is why you'll need matching ones. Mind you cut the XL t-shirt lower part in a suitable length to turn it into a skirt, considering you'll loose 2 more centimetres to sew the elastic waistband in:

Parte creativa adesso: decorate il top, considerando che riporterete la stessa decorazione sull'orlo inferiore della gonna.

Be creative now: decorate the top tank, considering you'll have the same pattern on the skirt's lower hem.

Andiamo alla gonna ora: sull'orlo superiore puntiamo il tessuto per creare il canale in cui inserire l'elastico, e inseriamolo. Lasciate perdere il mio stile di cucito: non ero per nulla sicura del progetto e non avevo voglia di investirci troppe forze! 

To the skirt now: pin the fabric of the top hem, so as to create the space for the elastic waistband to fit in. Insert the elastic waistband. Forget my poor sewing style: I wasn't confident at all about the whole project so I kind of decided to use it as a demo version!

Infine, decorate il bordo inferiore della gonna con lo stesso motivo usato per il top.

Last but not least, decorate the skirt's bottom hem the way you decorated the top.

Io però alla fine non l'ho mai messo perché il colore tulip 'puffy paint' - per intenderci quello che lascia uno spessore gommoso come traccia di colore, non so come si chiami - è per me difficilissimo da gestire e come vedete trovo che abbia fatto un effetto orrido. Peccato, perchè secondo me con un altro colore sarebbe venuto un completino da mare carino. Che ne pensate?

I actually never worn it though, 'cause Tulip Puffy Paint is a nightmare for me and it made a mess as you can see. Too bad, had I decorated it better I guess it would have turned out into a nice little outfit for beach days. What do you think?

Maglione refashioned / Sweater refashioning

Ho visto questo capo su una rivista; è di prestigiosisssssima maison francese iniziante per C! La decorazione non mi è dispiaciuta, e ho pensato di condividerla perché mi sembra piuttosto semplice da realizzare e la trovo originale. Credo tuttavia che vada bene per chi ha pochissimo seno, farei dei fiori più piccoli e la preferirei su una felpa grigia un pò abbondante che faccia un pò anni '80. Con una mini nera e gli stivali!
Che ne pensate? se vi piace molto molto posso pensare a come realizzare la decorazione.

I've noticed this sweater in a magazine, it is by a very prestigious French stylist beginning with C! I quite liked the decorating, and I thought of sharing it because I think it's not that difficult to handmake.
I think it would suit best flat-chested girls, I'd go for smaller flowers and I'd like it better o a baggish grey sweater to give it a bit of '80s look. To match with a black miniskirt and some boots!

Espadrillas dipinte/Altered espadrillas

La collezione primavera/estate 2012 comprende anche le scarpe! Come si sa, desideravo delle espadrillas da modificare, ed ecco qui la loro storia:

The spring/summer 2012 collection includes shoes, too! As I had told you, I liked the idea of having altered espadrillas, and here is their story:

Come potete immaginare è stato facilissimo: righe in punta da una parte, e sul retro dall'altra, idem per i pois! Ho scelto quelle bianche perchè il colore risalta di più e ho usato molti colori in maniera che andassero bene con tutto.. ahahah!!

As you can imagine it was supereasy: stripes on the toe on one side and on the heels on the other, same for the dots! I chose the white ones so as to have the best neutral background for colours, and I used all colours to have matching-with-anything shoes, lol!!

L'utilità dell'espadrillas è che è una scarpa chiusa che, abbinata in casi estremi a un calzino, può salvare i piedi dal congelamento da aria condizionata (tipo in areo) e può proteggerli dagli assalti delle zanzare, ma all'occorrenza è anche una scarpa da spiaggia e una ciabattina da camera.

The smart side of espadrillas is it's a proper shoe that can be combined to a sock in extreme need for extra warmth (like on a plane), and it can really save your feet from mosquito assaults. Also, espadrillas can easily turn into beach shoes or slipperies.

Mi piacerebbe sperimentare molti altri design, anche un pò più creativi: avete idee?

I'd like to try more designs, especially more creatively challenging ones: any suggestions?

Da t-shirt a canotta/ T-shirt to tank top

Una delle grandi soddisfazioni di questa estate è stato creare dei capi di abbigliamento - di mia 'creazione' o che avevo addocchiato ma che erano al di là delle mie finanze- modificando i classici capi vecchi in armadio o ciò che si poteva acquistare a pochissimo prezzo.

A big point this summer was creating clothes starting from my own creativity or from something I had spotted but considered too costly for my budget. I did this either by refashioning old pieces of clothing or starting anew from anything got for a very cheap price.

Tutto è cominciato con le magliette tinta unita a 1 euro comprate al mercato di cui si parla qui. Come ho già detto, il problema principale era che, come spesso accade per i capi scontatissimi, le taglie erano impossibili: o per bambini di 7-8 anni, o per omoni di circa 150 kg.
Se vi capita di bypassare occasioni di questo tipo sconfortate da dettagli come la taglia, qualche difetto, o un colore bizzarro.. non demordete! Il bello dell'art&craft è porsi di fronte ai materiali con spirito michelangiolesco: la maglietta in tutta la sua impossibilità è lì che ti guarda, e tu devi cavarne un bel capo!

The story begins with those monochrome t-shirts sold on the market for 1 euro, about which I told here. As I've already told you, the main problema was these t-shirts only came in awkward colours and unwearable sizes, ranging from children's to overweight men. This is the art&crafter's challenge, though! Look at the material you've got like Michelangelo would do: it's up to you to make it up to something cute and wearable!

Quindi, dopo alcune riflessioni sono tornata alla carica e ho acquistato loro due:

So, after some (over)thinking I got back to the market and bought these:

Quanto alla mia, color canarino, ho avuto subito un'idea. L'ho piegata a metà nel senso della lunghezza e ho tagliato le maniche in maniera che l'ampiezza della spalla restasse uguale sui due lati. (se è un procedimento idiota, ditemelo!)

As to my canary coloured one, I suddenly had an idea. I folded it in two and cut off the sleeves in order to have the same shoulder width in the end (if this sounds idiotic, please tell me!)

Poi, ho deciso di scollarla un pochino. Siccome faccio tutto 'a braccio', l'ho provata varie volte per arrivare alla profondità di scollatura che mi piaceva (consiglio questo metodo empirico, seguendo il detto 'a tagliare si fa sempre in tempo'!!!)

I then decided to deepen the neckline by trying it on several times so as to get the proper line.

Ora attenzione perché qui presa dall'impeto creativo ho saltato una foto (ehehheh!!): ho tagliato la parte dietro orizzontalmente, poi l'ho tagliata ancora con un taglio verticale al centro e ho intrecciato le due parti per creare questo effetto che si vede su molte canotte ampie:

Now hold on, cause I forgot to take a pic while driven away by my creative impetus (lol!): I cut the back part horizontally, then I cut it again following a central vertical line, so as to have two pieces I could arrange in this very popular look:

Ora infatti cuciamo all'interno il bordo orizzontale tagliato e inseriamo un elastico in maniera da creare l'arricciatura. Poi, fissiamo la 'treccia' centrale alla parte inferiore.

Now let's cut the horizontal hem inward, and let's put an elastic thread in it so as to create a ruffle effect. After that, fix the 'braid' to the center of the lower part.

Ora diamoci al colore! Ho usato colori per stoffa, mischiandoli in maniera da avere tinte che stessero bene con il giallo non troppo squillante, poi le ho spruzzate qua e là con un vecchio spazzolino da denti. Per un effetto più raffinato potete utilizzare la stessa tecnica ma con una mascherina da stencil in maniera da avere non delle macchie casuali come le mie ma dei disegni.
Ricordatevi di proteggere la superficie su cui lavorate perchè questa tecnica spruzza ovunque, e di mettere un foglio di plastica sotto la superficie che si dipinge per evitare, come sempre, che il colore passi anche sulla parte dietro della canotta.

To the colour now! I used fabric paint I mixed to get to shades that could match the yellowy background. Then I sprinkled the colour here and there with an old toothbrush. Fore a more refined effect you can use a stencil pattern and you'll have proper shapes instead of my bunch of scattered stains! Protect the surface you work onto, as this colouring technique is rather messy, and put a plastic sheet in between the back and the front of the top so as to colour just one at a time!

Ed ecco il capo indossato.. certo non si confà molto alle mie forme ma a me piace! (scusate per l'orrida bandana arancio, ma faceva un caldo!!)

And here it is on me! I can't really say it suits my shapes well, but I like it! (sorry for the dreadful orange bandana, but hey it was so hot!)

refashioned t-shirt

Mi piacciono moltissimo le magliette a tinta unita (mi piace tutto a tinta unita) in supersconto, e questa è stata pagata 1 euro al mercato. Prima che ci mettessi mano io non aveva quelle patacche sul davanti!

I am a big fan of cheap monochrome t-shirts, and I got this for one euro at the local market. Before I put my hands on it, it didn't show those ugly patches on the front!

Era la taglia bambini quindi non mi stava proprio comoda, ma in ogni caso sapevo che l'avrei risistemata da capo a piedi. Purtroppo però in corso d'opera gliene sono successe di ogni: prima mi sono arrischiata con delle decorazioni che chiaramente non erano per stoffa e che si sono sciolte miseramente in lavatrice, poi ho cominciato un progetto sulle maniche ma si restringevano troppo, quindi a furia di taglia e stringi è uscito questo!

It was a children size, so I wasn't exactly floating in it, but I knew it would have been refashioned top to bottom so I didn't really care. The refashioning process got stuck in a few hiccup moments, like when I used evidently non-washable decorations which of course got melted in the washing machine. Then I started a project for the sleeves, which came out reduced in size and then after some cutting and trimming this is what I came out with!

Siccome però si impara sempre dagli errori, condivido con voi le lezioni che ho imparato:

1. questa colla per tessuti è fantastica: smettiamola di cucire, e usiamo questa! :D


You know one always learns from mistakes, so here I am to share my post-mistake teachings to you:

1. This fabric glue is magic - stop sewing, get this :D!

2. mi piace molto questa decorazione a rosette ed è facilissima: prendete tutti i piccoli ritagli di stoffa che avete, arrotolateli finchè arrivate alla forma che desiderate e incollateli al tessuto!

ps: dovrei aggiungerne di più?

2.I really love this rosette decoration I used and it's supereasy: get all those tiny scraps of fabrics you certainly have, just roll and roll them until you get to the shape. Then glue it on the fabric!

ps: should I add more?

Rinnovare una t-shirt bianca/Refashioning a white tee

Oggi camminavo per il centro e ho visto questa:

I was strolling to the city centre today when I spotted this:

E' ovviamente facilissima da fare, e anche se non sono sicura di come mi starebbe, i fiocchetti colorati sono troppo stilosi!

It's so easy to make, I'm not sure how it would fit (me, at least), but those bright coloured ribbons are soo stilysh!

once upon a time there was a skirt

Ecco, sempre in uno dei miei pregevoli scatti, cosa è successo alla gonna di cui io e la Patty abbiamo dibattuto per giorni.

In another glorious photo shooting of mine, you can see what happened to the skirt Patty and I have been talking about for days.



Farla è stato semplice: ho tagliato all'altezza dei fianchi, ho tagliato ancora dalla parte inferiore una sorta di balza della lunghezza che mi piaceva, ho cucito a mano il sopra e il sotto. Il sotto risulta un pò più ampio, e cucendolo al sopra si crea l'effetto arricciatura.

What I did is I basically cut it at hip length, cut again the desired length from the lower part, handsew upper and bottom part. Bottom will be a bit wider, which gives this gathering effect.

Sono piuttosto soddisfatta di come è venuta, però ci sono un pò di pro e di contro da considerare:
- pro: è più facile di quello che pensate, ed è una tecnica di refashioning che da un'aria completamente nuova a una gonna. E' un modello perfetto se avete la vita stretta e il didietro molto più consistente!

- contro: quando arricciate la stoffa, bisogna controllare bene di aver bilanciato l'arricciatura tra davanti e dietro. Come dicevo prima, bisogna considerare che il sedere porta via più spazio del davanti, e questo potrebbe fare brutti scherzi se non ci ragionate in fase cucitura. A me ad esempio è venuta molto più arricciata davanti, perchè sul dietro la stoffa si tende.. ma non importa: sbagliando si impara!


I'm pretty pleased with the result, a few pros and cons though:

- pros: it's much easier than it might seem, at it's a refashioning technique that really changes a skirt's style. It will fit you perfect if you have a thin waist, and a much bulkier bum!

- cons: when gathering the fabric, be sure you properly balance the whole width between front and back. As said above, you must consider your backside will need more room than your front side, and this might turn out tricky when you are gathering the fabric. Mine is much more ruffled on the front, because the fabric stretches on my backside, but I don't care: you make mistakes, you learn!


Se questa avventura blogging (un pò diversa da come l'avevo pensata) continuerà, dovrò seriamente munirmi di una macchina fotografica. Ma non è nemmeno al 10. posto della mia wishlist!

This must be the skirt - Luna Lovegood inspiration

Eccomi! L'opera non è ancora finita, ma non resistevo a postare le (orribili) foto!!
Le cose sono andate cosi: ho una passione per il personaggio di Luna Lovegood nella serie di Harry Potter, e mentre googlavo cose a caso su di lei sono arrivata a questo bellissimo tutorial, e ho deciso di rimaneggiarlo a modo mio, sopratutto compatibilmente con le mie pessime capacità nel disegno.
Avevo questa gonna da un pò di anni ed era li li per essere buttata, cosi ho pensato di utilizzarla per il progetto. Si, è molto storta perchè viene da un negozietto a pochissimo, ma indossata è molto carina.
Mi sono procurata colori per stoffa accertandomi che andassero bene per un fondo nero, poi ho aggiunto quei colori che fanno spessore per qualche dettaglio in più!
Io ho scelto di creare delle mascherine da stencil per la prima mano, poi per la seconda e la terza sono andata a mano libera.
Prossimi passi: taglierò l'orlo nero sottostante per accorciarla e rimodernarla un pò, poi la metterò a lavare sperando che non stinga perchè mi ha impegnata per una settimana. E' stata una settimana di grandi pressioni e conflitti intorno a me, e sono sicura che questa gonna mi abbia aiutata a uscirne più serena.

The project is not completely finished yet, but I couldn't wait one more day to show it!!

So, the story goes like this: I have a passion for Luna Lovegood - the quirky and whimsical carachter in Harry Potter series.
I found out this wonderful tutorial and I decided to rework it, following my personal taste.
I've been having this skirt for a long while and it was almost time to send it to retirement, when it turned out so useful for this project. Yes, it's so poorly cut and sewn, but I got it from a very cheap shop.
I went to a craft supplies' shop and got some fabric paint - I made sure it was suitable for painting on a black surface. I had to paint three layers, but I'm satisfied with the result. I then added some 'puffy paint' to enrich the details.
I decided to create stencil patterns for the first layer, then I painted layer 2 and 3 with a paintbrush.
Next steps: trim the black hem underneath to make the whole look of the skirt more refashioned, and wash it hoping colours will stay put!
It took me one whole week to finish it, but this project kept me company in a difficult and very stressful moment. I'm pretty sure the skirt helped me relax and get out of some situations alive.

PS: sorry for my miserable pictures. Getting better equipped is on my priority list.

destino di una gonna/destiny of a skirt

L'ho acquistata pensandola bellissima. L'ho indossata fieramente per un pò. Abbinata a degli stivali rossi, e su questo sorvolerei.
Poi improvvisamente mi sono resa conto che era terribile e mi stava malissimo.
Che ne sarà di lei?!

I bought it thinking it was one of a kind. I proudly wore it for a while, with a pair of red boots. Then I suddenly realized it looked rather unwearable and most of all, it didn't fit me at all.
What will happen to this poor skirt?
