Ispirazioni montane - Mountain style inspiration

Intanto che preparo il mio reportage sul weekend alle terme in Valle d'Aosta, ho pensato di condividere con voi un pò di ispirazioni di stile montanaro che ho colto qua e là nelle 48 ore passate sui monti (di cui circa 10 passate a mollo nelle bolle..!)

While I sort my reportage about the spa weekend in Valle d'Aosta, I think I can share with you some snapshots from mountain styles I took during my 48 hours on the mountains (10 of which were actually spent  floating among bubbles so..)

Quadretti con animali in plastica. Trovo orripilante quello con il dinosauro, un pò meglio il cavallo selvaggio (perché mi piace lo sfondo con la foresta). In ogni caso, se a qualcuno piacciono credo possano essere facilmente replicabili, quindi potete spacciare di avere un gran pezzo di arte contemporanea in soggiorno a pochi euro.

I find these compositions absolutely rubbish. The dynosaur one is honestly unbelievable, I rather take the other one because I like the forest background. Anyway, if you like them I think you can easily make your own and pretend you have bought some high-class contemporary art for no less than some euro.

Bellissime ampolle per servire l'acqua a tavola. Io e il Pì stiamo cercando delle brocche da tavola e queste ci sono moooolto piaciute. Dovremo pensare a una versione low cost!

These water ampoules are gorgeous. The Mighty Pì and I are looking for particular water bottles, and we really liked them. We'll think of a low-cost version of them.

Le gigatazze! Grandi quasi come un orologio. Divertenti! 

King-size mugs! They're almost as big as a clock. These are funny!

Lampade in simil-cartapesta con alce. Io personalmente non le userei, ma mi piace il total white e in ogni caso anche questo è un progetto facilmente ripetibile, se qualcuno gradisce..

Faux papier-maché lamps with elk. I don't really like them, but I wanted to share them 'cause they can easily be handmade if you like them.

Candele ispirate a Cappuccetto Rosso (+ montagne sullo sfondo + silhouette dei Pì). Queste mi sono piaciute, anche se ho trovato un pò macabra l'idea e inavvicinabile il prezzo. Carine però, vero?!

Little red riding hood inspired candles (+ mountains on the background + the Mighty Pìs). I quite liked these, although I think seeing LRRH with her head in flames could look somehow morbid. The price was so high. Aren't they cute, though?

Weekend alle terme di Pré -Pré st. Didier thermal baths weekend

Sono una ragazza fortunata! In occasione del mio compleanno, che in effetti cade di lunedì, abbiamo organizzato un weekend di festeggiamenti! Quindi, io e il Pì stasera partiamo per le Terme di Pré Saint Didier in Valle d'Aosta! 

Vi farò sapere come è andata, intanto sul mio secondo blog, dedicato ai viaggi, trovate segnalati i posti che visiteremo. Se qualcuno ha suggerimenti sulla zona, ha ancora qualche ora di tempo per avvisarmi!

I'm a lucky girl who will be celebrating her 30th birthday from today to Monday, my actual birth date! The Mighty Pì and I are leaving tonight, heading to Valle d'Aosta, a nice mountain region in Northern Italy where we'll spend some time in hot water and bubbles at the spa centre!

Maglione in progress / In progress sweater

Un altro lato positivo della maglia è che ogni creazione resta legato a un particolare ricordo e momento. Questo, ad esempio, sarà il 'one-week sweater', perché è stato knittato in una settimana netta.. grazie anche alle notti insonni. Mi dispiace che dalla foto non si veda, ma il melange di colori è bellissimo e la lana molto morbida. Anche stavolta, ho adattato un modello preparato per un filato completamente diverso: devo dire che questa volta sono stata molto più brava rispetto al maglione rosa a collo alto, ma comunque qualche intoppo c'è stato e spero che in fase di montaggio e decorazione si possa occultare!

Altro esperimento: puntare il maglione prima di montarlo. Non l'avevo mai fatto, e non so se l'ho fatto bene (oltretutto, per fortuna ho un divano vecchio che potevo bucherellare.. altrimenti dove lo puntavo?!), ma credo che sia un'operazione importante.

Ve lo farò presto vedere montato, indossato e abbinato spero in tante possibilità!

Another positive side of knitting is that anything you produce will always remember you of something special. This one will always be the 'one-week sweater', having been knitted in one week, thanks to insomnia nights too. 
I am sorry you can't see it from the picture, but the colours are wonderful and the wool is so soft. Even this time I used a pattern that had originally been written for a different kind of wool, but this time it was easier than the pink high neck sweater. It's not perfect, but I hope I'll mend everything when I'll sew it!

Another test: I tried to pin it before sewing. I have never done it before, and it hasn't been easy (where the heck is one supposed to pin such a big sweater, unless you have an old, pinneable couch?!) but I think it will do the job. 

I will soon show it finished and worn!

Refashioning maglietta per San Valentino - Valentine's day t-shirt refashioning

Più che giustamente non tutti hanno già voglia di sentir parlare di San Valentino, ma io ho la mania dell'organizzazione delle feste e degli eventi per cui non posso fare a meno di essere già curiosa!

Ovviamente non è per forza San Valentino-related, anzi tutto sommato è portabilissima tutto l'anno e credo possa essere un regalo molto carino in qualunque momento dell'anno o una strategia per abbellire un pò una banale t-shirt che magari già c'è nell'armadio! Mi piace particolarmente portata con la camicia sotto, e di questo bel grigio scuro (rosso/grigio è un abbinamento che mi piace tantissimo d'inverno).

Così, complici i saldi, mi sono messa a cercare la maglietta e, con l'aiuto dell'occhio di lince del Pì, ho trovato questa:

So, thanks to winter sales, I went hunting for mine and The Mighty Pi helped me spot this for 5 euro!

La trovo perfetta, lo scollo va benissimo per metterci sotto una camicia e le maniche sono un pò a pipistrello.. ora non vedo l'ora di darmi ai lavori! Chi mi segue?!

Maschera ipernutriente 100% naturale - 100% natural nourishing mask

Trovo che un ottimo modo per concludere il weekend e prepararsi alla nuova settimana sia qualche trattamento di bellezza. Quindi, dopo lo scrub all'olio di mandorle e zucchero di canna, suggerisco di provare  la maschera supernutriente ed ottima contro il freddo.

Dovrete semplicemente schiacchiare la polpa di avocado e ottenere un fluido grazie all'aggiunta dell'olio di oliva. Suggerisco poi di scaldarla a bagnomaria o su un calorifero perché applicarla calda, oltre a essere una goduria, fa si che la pelle si dilati e le sostanze nutritive penetrino meglio: l'effetto finale è di una morbidezza unica, e gli acidi grassi di olio e avocado riparano i danni del freddo! La maschera in effetti fa benissimo anche a mani e piedi, se ve ne avanza un pò.

You'll simply have to smash the avocado pulp and mix it with olive oil. I suggest you heat it and apply it  when mildly warm: not only this gives an extra-relaxing effect, but the heat will open up your skin pores so they will better absorbe the mask. You will enjoy a final effect of skin softness, and a relief from skin damages due to cold weather. The mask is also very good for hand and feet, too.

Sappiamo quanto indietro sia il mio reportage sul Natale, ma siccome oggi ero un pò malata e avevo bisogno di qualcosa che mi tirasse fuori di casa per andare al lavoro, ho indossato per la prima volta questo regalo di Natale che mi ha fatto mia sorella e ho pensato di mostrarvelo.

We all know how late I am in reporting my Christmas activity, but as I was a bit ill today I needed something to pull me out of home and drive me to work,  I decided to wore this gift from my sister for the first time and I thought you might like it too.

L'ha fatto tutto a mano, compreso il bottone in pasta sintetica! Si tratta di una collana che ha anche una funzione di scaldacollo. Ne avevo visti altri che aveva fatto, ma questo mi è piaciuto tantissimo per l'abbinamento di turchese e beige. Io indosso pochissimo il turchese ma con i toni del marrone mi piace davvero tanto!
Che ne pensate? E' un pò laborioso ma credo sia un regalo davvero di lusso!

She entirely made it by hand, including the polymer clay button! It is a neckwarmer-necklace. I had seen many others she had made, but this one is definitely my favourite because of its mix of turquoise and creamy colours. I rarely wear turquoise but I love it matched with brownish colours.
What do you think? It certainly needs some handwork and time but isn't this such a classy pressie?

Maglione dolcevita rosa fatto a mano / Pink high-neck knitted sweater

Oggi ho finalmente indossato in pubblico il primo maglione serio che ho fatto, a parte coprispalle o top in lana.
E' stato una faticaccia! Avevo adattato un modello tratto da un giornale ma non è stato affatto facile, ci sono diversi piccoli 'errori' e ho dovuto recuperare in corsa molte cose, ma altrettante ne ho imparate!
La lana è caldissima e i colori mi piacciono molto però!
Che ne dite? Ci sono altre magliste all'ascolto? Qualcuna che vorrebbe cominciare?

Today I eventually wore in public my first serious handknitted sweater! I had knitted a few tank tops, but this was the first big one. It's been pretty exhausting cause I had to adapt a pattern from a magazine and it hasn't been easy at all. It's actually full of minor mistakes but that helped me learn a lot.
Moreover, the wool is sooo warm and I love the colours.
